Editing your Gravatar- Tutorial

In this tutorial, I will run through how to change the picture of your gravatar. This will allow you to have whatever image you want next to your name whenever you post or make a comment. It’s essentially useless, but it looks nice. Here’s what to do:

Sign into your wordpress account at the very top of the page when you go to http://www.wordpress.com

Note** If you are already signed in, you will be automatially directed to another page. If that is the case, just skip to step two.

Click on ‘Dashboard’ under the IU PAINTERS Blog.

Your dashboard is where you will manage your username, make posts, etc. On the left hand side of the screen, you will see a bunch of drop-down tabs. Click the down arrow on ‘Users’ and then Click ‘My Profile’

On the right side of the screen you should see a big blue icon with some text under it that says “Change your gravatar”. Click on that button.

Click the first link that comes up. It should read “Upload a new image from your computer”. This is going to prompt you to select an image from your hard drive to use as your gravatar. The image can be any size you want- you will be prompted to crop it in the next step. If you don’t have an image in mind, you will need to pause this process and find one before you proceed. If you have a laptop with a built in webcam, you can select “Use your webcam to take a snapshot of yourself” and it will automatically use that picture. It’s up to you.

You will be prompted to crop your image into a square format. The previews on the right hand side will give you an indication of what the image will look like when you have completed. When you have finished cropping, click the “Crop and Finish” button at the bottom.

This step will ask you to ‘rate’ the level of your gravatar. Unless your putting up porn, I think it’s probably fine to just select ‘G’. This step is just so people who don’t want to view what they deem inappropriate content don’t have to.

That’s all there is to it!

****Note: It can sometimes take a few minutes for the gravatar to have effects on your dashboard and on the blog itself. If it doesn’t show up right away, don’t worry about it. If it has been longer than a few hours and you still can’t see it, try again, or send me an email and I will see if I can help you.
